Despite the fact that there are numerous job aggregators, many of them have either few or no postings for high school students. Moreover, not all students are necessarily interested in a job as their extracurricular activity: some students may choose to find an internship or volunteer opportunity. Vita fields all three of these positions while making it easy for students to create an account and communicate with employers.
A lot of factors played into this decision, but ultimately, we understood that our first platform would have to support both students and employers. Don’t worry, though: our website is mobile-friendly and responsive. In addition to all of this, we will also be launching a "status" companion app, where students can track their applications, bookmarked jobs, and receive notifications.
Our site uses two-factor authentication for each of its users. Therefore, after signing up, you will receive an email that will tell you a randomly generated password that you can use to login again. Once you have access to your account, you can change your password to anything you like.
As of right now, messaging is not integrated within the actual applications. Rather, employers will communicate with students through email. We find this to be the best medium for employers and students to interact, especially if students are required to supplement their application with a resume, transcript, etc. Furthermore, for each position, students can see the preferred method of communication, whether this be through the standard email, phone call, or in-person meeting.
We are currently operating around Downtown Frederick, Whittier, Westview Promenade, and the Villages of Urbana in Maryland. We hope to expand further into surrounding counties in the DMV, such as Montgomery and Washington, by the end of the year/beginning of 2019.
Students do not need to pay in order to use the Vita platform. We strive to ensure that all students can find the opportunity that they deserve no matter their financial situation.
Advertising revenue supports our ability to offer you a plethora of opportunities without a fee to students, so ads cannot be turned completely off.
