Frederick Arts Council Pop-Up Gallery Attendant

The Frederick Arts Council is seeking a Gallery Attendant for its Pop-Up Gallery at 11 W. Patrick Street. The gallery currently houses an art installation which will be in place throughout 2019.

The Gallery Attendant is tasked with supervising the gallery in the afternoons from 1 pm to 5 pm, and acting as reception for visitors who come in the building.

The Attendant should familiarize him/herself with the installation and be able to answer basic questions about it, as well as basic questions about the Arts Council (e.g. What does the Frederick Arts Council do? How can I get involved? etc.)

The installation itself also needs a bit of attention each day: the Attendant should plug in the fountain upon arrival and unplug it upon leaving, and also water (via spritz bottle) the fountain’s moss.

Finally, the Attendant should keep the reception desk/space neat and mostly clear.

The Gallery Attendant position is an opportunity to be involved in exhibition management of a contemporary art installation funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
